The big dating squeeze
So a while back I joined a dating site. To my horror I found that in order to actually communicate with another member I had to pay R150. OK, that is all fine and well. Then I found out that not only did I have to pay R150, the person I'm trying to contact must also pay R150 to reply.
Digging a bit deeper I also found that the site I've joined belonged to a group of sites that I now call the /s/ sites. Because all of them has that /s/ in all their page urls as displayed in the link bar at the top of your browser. So what I found was that my profile were not only on the one site that I joined, but on ALL the /s/ sites that are out there. If you look to the right you'll probably find a number of links to dating sites and you will find that most of them are these /s/ sites.
OK, having your profile on multiple sites and having thousand, if not millions of of people to choose from is a good thing, but only if you are willing to pay that R150 every month. The problem is however, most members joining these sites do so because they believe it is free and are then not willing to pay that R150 just to talk to someone who probably won't even be the ideal life long partner.
Now if you think that you can just send the person on the other side your contact details you are making a big mistake. No, each and every message that you send get moderated and if you add any phone numbers or addresses or even just hints of where and how to find you, it get removed from your message.
True free dating site
So I started my own dating site. The aim is it to be truly free, where free members can contact other members and where your personal and private messages stay personal and private and don't get read by some moderator who can choose what you may or may not say.
OK, I am offering members the option to get paid membership as well. I do need to some how recover the cost of hosting the website. Paid membership start from only R20 for three months, making it much more affordable. Paying members can then send more than only one message per day, upload more photos, etc.
So before I give you the link to my new dating site, I want to ask you, PLEASE JOIN. It is a new site, with relatively few members. Chances are that you won't find your ideal partner today or even tomorrow on the site. But if you join the site, your ideal partner may stumble onto the site as well, find you and contact you.
Lastly, remember to confirm your email address. If it isn't confirmed, your profile will not show up when members search the site.
So, here is the link to my dating site: 1st-host/datingclub
